A charming antique love token pendant, created from an Austrian coin dating to the late 19th century.

At some point in its history, both sides of the coin were carefully polished smooth and transformed from a simple everyday coin into a sentimental keepsake. Such love tokens were often exchanged between sweethearts or close friends.

One side has been engraved with the letter 'S'. The reverse is particularly intriguing, featuring a series of hand engraved musical notes. While their exact meaning has been lost to time, they may represent a passage from 'Ode to Joy'.

Rich in character and personal history, this is a beautiful example of Victorian era sentimental jewellery. A small but evocative treasure, carrying echoes of a love.

CONDITION: The love token is in lovely condition with a fine patina of wear, a few nibbles and colouration as expected.
