Etienne Gayneau and his friends find themselves in danger again, surrounded by pirates, witches, rebels, and unscrupulous men. Time is running out before they become separated from their families permanently.

Thirteen-year-old Etienne wakes up to find himself marooned somewhere in the Caribbean during hurricane season in 1664. A storm sunk the pirate ship on which he’d been forced to serve. As he struggles to get his bearings, he hears voices approaching. The pirate captain has also survived! Rushing toward safety in the jungle, the weight of his situation is crushing, as he must again face pirates, rebels, raiders, and an uncertain future.

Meanwhile, back on Long Island, Abraham discovers that his youngest brother, Caleb, has been indentured to a woman accused of witchcraft and her husband, who may be jeopardizing Caleb’s very survival.
