If you're chasing real displacement out of a Type 1 case, the stroke is where it starts. This is EMPI's 82mm 4340 counter-weighted crankshaft (00-8182-0) on standard VW journals — the backbone of a 2276cc build when you pair it with 94mm cylinders. Forged 4340 steel, counterweighted for balance at the RPM a stroker actually sees.

Features

  • Forged 4340 chromoly-grade steel — the material you want for high-output, hard-use motors, not a cast replacement
  • 82mm stroke — combines with 94mm pistons for 2276cc, the most popular air-cooled stroker displacement
  • Counter-weighted for smoother high-RPM operation and reduced bearing load
  • Standard VW rod and main journals — runs standard-size bearings
  • Requires case clearancing for the rod and counterweight swing (see Fitment)

Fitment

This is a build component, not a bolt-in. An 82mm crank swings a larger arc than stock and requires case clearancing at the cam tunnel, lifter bores, and case webbing, plus a matching 94mm cylinder bore. Confirmed for Type 1 cases being built to 2276cc.

CONFIRMED: VW Type 1 Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3, Bus (T1/T2), Thing/181, Buggy, Baja — engine cases machined for 82mm stroke. NOT CONFIRMED: stock un-clearanced cases, Type 4 engines.

What bearings does it use? Standard-size VW rod and main bearings, since the journals are standard.

Are you an authorized dealer? Yes — Washburn's Metal is an authorized EMPI dealer.

Don't pass this one by
Color: Gunmetal Grey, Size: Rechargeable
This is the best wine opener we ever had...push button once...it goes in, pulls cork out, then reverses and drops cork in your hand...all with one push of the button. Long battery life between charges.

Game Changer for Wine Lovers
Color: 8-in-1 Silver, Size: Rechargeable
Circle Joy Electric Wine Bottle Opener and I’m honestly really impressed. Setup was super simple, and it works exactly as advertised—just place it on the bottle, press a button, and the cork comes out smoothly in seconds. No struggling, no broken corks, and no mess. It makes opening wine feel effortless and a lot more enjoyable. I also love the sleek design—it looks modern and feels sturdy, not cheap. If you have the set with accessories, the extras like the foil cutter and pourer are a nice bonus and actually useful. Overall, this is a great little gadget, especially if you open wine often or just want something convenient and easy to use. Definitely a solid buy or even a nice gift idea.
