  • Taxonomy: Petunia x hybrida
  • Other Names: Floribunda Petunia
  • Seed Type: Annual (Perennial in zones 10 – 11)
  • Sow Indoors or Outdoors: For earliest blooming, start Picobella Series petunia seeds indoors 10 – 12 weeks before the final frost and transplant once there are two sets of true leaves. Picobella Series seeds will germinate within 14 days with full lighting. If transplanting outside, harden off seedlings into a partially shaded spot in the garden, or an equally moderate place indoors.
  • Days to Maturity: 98 – 105 days
  • Hardiness Zone: 6 – 11
  • Planting Depth: Plant 2 – 3 seeds ¼” deep
  • Plant Spacing: 6”
  • Growth Habit: 8 – 10” tall dwarfed mound with an 8 – 10” spread of mini 2 – 3” classic petunia blooms
  • Soil Preference: Average, medium moist, well-drained

  • Diseases/Pests/Troubleshooting: Avoid overhead watering to minimize wetting foliage as Picobella Series petunia seeds are susceptible to fungal and leaf diseases and gray mold if not properly ventilated. Picobella Series petunias will benefit from shade and deadheading as they begin to decline as autumn nears. Petunias have no serious pests, but monitor regularly for aphids, flea beetles, slugs and snails.
  • Color: Signature choice of Blue, Carmine, Light Lavender, Red, Rose, Salmon, White, or Mix

Second only to impatiens in annual bedding plant sales, the petunia has been a popular plant for many years due in large part to its ease of culture and non-stop flowering from spring to frost. Petunia is a genus of 20 species native to South America and the genus is loosely derived from an old Guarani word meaning “tobacco” since the two plants are both in the nightshade family.

Another quality Quick Start book
Format: Paperback
Haven't gotten that far into the book yet, but so far the material is good. IMO, the book would be far better if it had a spiral binding like the Python Quick Start books I bought. Programming type books are much easier and better to use when they lay flat. This would probably make the book more expensive to purchase, but would be well worth it. The contents of the book are well laid out starting with simple basic topics and progressing through the more advanced ones. The chapters on Asynchronous JavaScript and JQuery were, IMHO, light in the amount of information provided. The book is designed/written to provide a "quick start" on JS, but I think that there could have been more details provided for these two topics. All in all this book provides an adequate introduction to doing JS coding. Any plans on doing an advanced Javascript book to cover topics like map and other advanced programming constructs?

Perfect book for beginners
Format: Paperback
I started designing my website using another book that covered HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I got pretty good with HTML, passable with CSS but could not get my head around JavaScript. Little code snippets that illustrated various functions just didn’t do it. This book is totally different. Using downloadable example code and the free Visual Studio Code editor, the author takes you step by step through slowly constructing a complete JavaScript-driven website. I found writing and debugging my own code to greatly enhance my understanding of the material. And while I’m yet to get to that stage, being able to do full-stack development using Node.js and Ajax is a major plus. This is the perfect book for beginners wanting to learn JavaScript. Highly recommended.

A great book you’ll need every day for your entire web developer career!
Format: Paperback
This book is great! I have been working on becoming a web developer and this book is a major help in filling in the gaps from other resources I’ve used. Many other resources don’t really explain why some things work the way they do, but this book explains it all! You’ll always want to have it around because it’s great to go back and reference when you’re having trouble. I highly recommend all of the Quick Start books! I’ve got the HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, and SQL books that I use daily! If you want to become a web developer or programmer, start with the HTML/CSS book and then branch off from there. You won’t regret it! They are all very beginner friendly and easy to understand. 💙
