Selected by students across France to win the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, David Diop's English-language, historical fiction debut At Night All Blood is Black is a "powerful, hypnotic, and dark novel" (Livres Hebdo) of terror and transformation in the trenches of the First World War. Alfa Ndiaye is a Senegalese man who, never before having left his village, finds himself fighting as a so-called "Chocolat" soldier with the French army during World War I. When his friend Mademba Diop, in the same regiment, is seriously injured in battle, Diop begs Alfa to kill him and spare him the pain of a long and agonizing death in No Man's Land. Unable to commit this mercy killing, madness creeps into Alfa's mind as he comes to see this refusal as a cruel moment of cowardice. Anxious to avenge the death of his friend and find forgiveness for himself, he begins a macabre ritual: every night he sneaks across enemy lines to find and murder a blue-eyed German soldier, and every night he returns to base, unharmed, with the German's severed hand. At first his comrades look at Alfa's deeds with admiration, but soon rumors begin to circulate that this super soldier isn't a hero, but a sorcerer, a soul-eater. Plans are hatched to get Alfa away from the front, and to separate him from his growing collection of hands, but how does one reason with a demon, and how far will Alfa go to make amends to his dead friend? Peppered with bullets and black magic, this remarkable novel fills in a forgotten chapter in the history of World War I. The perfect throw-on athletic dress (with built-in shorts!)

I’ve been loving this athletic dress—it’s one of those pieces that’s both functional and cute, which is hard to find. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, and slightly stretchy, so it’s comfortable whether you’re running errands, going for a walk, or just chasing kids around all day.
The built-in shorts are a huge plus. They stay in place well and make it feel more secure than a regular dress, especially on busy days. I also appreciate the pockets—they’re actually usable and don’t feel bulky.
The fit is relaxed and flowy, which I personally like because it’s easy and flattering without clinging. The straps are adjustable, so you can customize the fit a bit depending on your height or preference.

Perfect for summer days.

I absolutely love this little athletic summer dress. I typically wear a size ten and ordered this in a medium and it's a perfect fit. I have the straps short so way it doesn't look baggy. It is super soft and comfortable. It is breathable and a perfect cut and length for me so so I plan on wearing it all during hot summer days. This is very versatile and easy to style by layering different things underneath it. I have a gray and leopard sports bra that is a really close shade of gray so it almost looks like it's one piece. I plan to order the teal as I have a swimsuit top that will match that color spot on. It seems like it is good quality and should hold up well to normal usage. I like that it has really big pockets , but I likely will not use them often lol. I just like the fact that if I need to have pockets they are there.

Size down! But overall comfortable and cute and good quality

Overall it’s cute and comfortable, but my advice is to SIZE DOWN!!! I wish I would have, but I’ve already washed it so it’s too late. The straps are adjustable, but even so, I’ve had to tighten them as far as they’ll go. For reference, I am 5’1” and 125#, rectangle shaped/boxy body with a very small chest and I got a Small. The top gapes open on me and the dress is longer than I prefer for this style. Material/fabric is nice and good quality and it’s a perfect one-piece easy outfit for warm days. I like the yellow color too. It is tricky to find the right bra to wear with it, though. Got lots of compliments on it the first time I wore it.

Cute, Comfy & Flowy—Great for Plus Size!

I really like this dress!
It’s super comfortable and lightweight, and the material feels soft without being too thin. It has a nice flow to it, so it doesn’t cling to your body, which I really appreciate.
For reference, I’m 5’4” with a 46” bust, and the dress fits well overall. The length is great, and I love that it has a relaxed fit—it’s easy to throw on and still look put together.
The pockets are also a nice bonus and actually usable.
The only thing to note is the top area can be a little more open on the sides, so I personally prefer wearing a sports bra or something cute underneath. It actually works really well styled that way and gives that “layered” look.
Overall, it’s a really easy, comfortable dress that you can dress up or down. I’ll definitely be wearing this a lot!
