MD DermaShield SPF50UVA (long rays) penetrate the skin more deeply than UVB (short rays). Radiation triggers free radical and oxidation damage. It also causes collagen to break down (cross linking) so that skin wrinkles, weakens elastin so that skin sags, and brings about unsightly hyperpigmentation (actinic keratoses).
