The pommel and crossguard have lost all of their original finish, and what remains is a matte silver steel color that looks very cool. The pommel and crossguard have lost all of their original finish, and what remains is a matte silver steel color that looks very cool. The brown bakelite ribbed grip plates show wear but are in very good shape. The cap has waffenamts in all the right places. The spine of the handle does show some marks on it, as though this was used for a hammer, which was pretty common in the field. The mortise button functions. The scabbard shows a few dents but is overall very good. It has the same matte silver steel color as the above fittings, giving this a great look. The obverse of the scabbard shows the serial number S/177G with the reverse being marked 257 which is the code for the maker Christian Theodore Dicke (CTD) of Lüdenscheid. Usually, we think of this company making medals, but they made bayonets as well. By the way, the G code at the end of the serial number indicates the date. This means that this blade was manufactured in 1935. This coding ended after 1936, after this, they started to use the date itself.  The blade is gorgeous. It retains its bluing and looks excellent. It also has the serial number on the obverse and the maker code on the reverse This is a fine example.
