The S6 has been in production, in continuously refined form, for over a decade. It is still here because it remains among the best EL34 integrated amplifiers ever built.

Our Experience

First, bass. We'll lead with it because it's the surprise. The S6 grips speakers with a control that you do not expect from a pure tube amplifier. Our Aurai Z165s were playing into the mid-to-high 30Hz range at low listening levels, with a speed, clarity, and control that sounds like solid-state in the best possible sense. No-compromise grip in the low end.

The midrange is everything you would expect from an EL34-based amplifier and then some. Dimensional, layered, present. Guitars and vocals have a reach-out-and-touch intimacy. Not a hint of harshness even on difficult 1980s recordings. The highs are extended and smooth — not rolled off in the way that some EL34 amplifiers protect their midrange at the expense of the top end.

Point-to-point wiring. EL34 output tubes. Zero global negative feedback. Handcrafted in Italy at the Unison Research factory, refined over more than ten years of production.
