Warhol’s Flowers were initially inspired by a photograph of several hibiscus flowers taken by Patricia Caulfield, published in the Modern Photography magazine. While the flowers originate from realistic photographs (as did the majority of his images), Warhol altered his versions of the flowers, by flattening and cropping the flowers and adding vibrant, contrasting colors.
He eventually settled on a square format that meant the paintings could be viewed from any orientation. While these flowers are bright and sunny, they are set against a dark and ambiguous backdrop, suggesting that the beauty of the flowers is not all that Warhol was aiming for.

The editions of Sunday B. Morning were intended as a joke, with a stamp on the back which said "fill in your own signature".
Warhol began collaborating with two friends from Belgium in 1970 on a second series of some of his prints. Among them were the series of “Marilyn”, “Campbell Soup Can”, “Flowers”, etc., with the stamp on the back "fill in your own signature". The original idea behind this partnership for Warhol was to play on the concept of mass production. Andy loved to comment on this phenomenon through his art and explored the impact on modern culture. The thought was, ‘here we just mass-produced these prints; sign your name here. Any name will do. Because yours is as important as my own.’
These new impressions were exacting in detail to the Factory Editions and so Warhol was essentially mocking the idea that the Factory Edition prints were somehow more important than these new ones.

These Sunday B. Mornings editions are stamped on the verso in blue ink. The 'blue ink' stamp is the current edition. The quality and integrity of the prints are impeccable, printed on 'museum board' with the highest quality archival inks.

Certificate of Authenticity is included.

The artwork is unframed.

Packed with knowledge and mystery!
Format: Paperback
I gave this book 5 stars because this is an exhaustive compendium of mythological knowledge in one short (505 pages) volume. It is professorial in writing design, which includes excerpts in Latin, French and German, as well as the many words and phrases from India, Mesopotamia, northern Europe, Pacifiic islands and so forth. I recommend reading the appendices in the order they are referred to in the main text. I read them last and did not glean an understanding that accompanied the chapters. All in all, this is a researcher's book with 29 pages of bibliography material, with extensive notes at the bottom of the pages so one can stay on text. Good luck and enjoy the perusal of mythology, astronomy/astrology, history, poetry and fable. Great reading!

Interesting connections made.
Format: Paperback
I bought this because or had been referred to in several other excellent books I've read. Very scholarly and good case made but a bit dry and overdone/redundant at times when making a point. And if you've studied a lot, nothing really new revealed- but if just starting down this road, some great comparisons made.

Seminal
Format: Paperback
As many have noted, Hamlet's Mill is not an "easy" read, but it is an absolutely worthwhile experience not only to read but to re-read this seminal thesis on the transmission of ancient astronomical knowledge through mythology and legend. Perhaps the fact that a reader must wrestle with this text is part of the reason that it has generated so many fruitful inquiries and theories by later authors. The entire book is rich with ideas, many of which the authors drop and then pick up again and again later in the text, some of which are simply left for later analysts to pursue further on their own. Slice into it at any point and you will find a rich vein of material that can suggest new avenues for you to explore in the ancient history and literatures of the world. Sometimes an easy read or a text that hands you all of its answers and does the work for you is not "what the doctor ordered." Hamlet's Mill definitely makes more sense the second and even third time through. That in and of itself makes this book worth your while -- it's a gift that keeps on giving, a book you can keep on reading, even after you reach the end!

Love learning new things!
Format: Paperback
Love the book but unless you have a foreknowledge of myths from around the world and the experts that have written about them, you will need your phone next to you to look up everything that is being talked about. Like, on every page. Not an easy read.

Properly intellectual, and both demanding and rewarding as such
Format: Paperback
Anyone who plans to read this book is likely to know its premise already, so, I will not spend time or effort to recap it. All I can say is that the way the book is more eloquent, is altogether smarter, and more beautifully written than I expected. This is a true intellectual treat written with proper intellectual verve. So, no conspiracy theorists, or the simpleton believers in ancient aliens need not apply. If, however, you achieved a proper academic attainment - got your Masters or PhD and enjoy intellectual stimulation, this is a rare gem, to be digested slowly and deliberately, as no similar book is to be encountered any time soon. In other words, just a great book, presenting fascinating thoughts. It does not need anyone’s endorsement, as it is already a well-known entity within its field, yet, here it is – very heartily recommend!
