A reed petal never truly "closes" in a classic sense, as it is always in motion. Considering that an engine running at 8,000 RPM causes a reed petal to open and close 133 times per second, another advantage of the VForce system becomes clear. Since the petals only travel half the distance, they generally last longer as they experience less wear than the reed petals in a conventional reed valve design.
