Beschrijving 

De Franse Renault R35 was een lichte infanterietank die werd ingezet tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Na de ontwikkelingsfase van vanaf 1933 werd de tank drie jaar later in 1936 gefabriceerd. 

De tank had als voornaamste doel om vijandelijke infanterieposities te verzwakken, zodat eigen infanteriedivisies deze stellingen konden doorbreken. De R 35 was hiervoor goed bepantserd, maar miste wel de snelheid (max. 20 km/u) en vuurkracht (37mm kanon) om het rechtstreeks tegen andere tanks op te nemen. 

De Renault R 40, die in april 1940 in productie ging, beschikte over meer vuurkracht met een langer kanon.
