The property

In the heart of the Margaux appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux, stands Château Marquis de Terme. The origins of the vineyard date back to the 15th century, but the estate took its current name in the 18th century when the Marquis de Terme took over the reins. Since 1935, the Sénéclauze family has owned this Margaux Grand Cru.

The vineyard

The 40 hectares of Château Marquis de Terme vineyards are planted on deep gravels typical of the Margaux appellation, made up of thick quartz and quartzite. Some parcels are more clayey. The vineyard is managed on a parcel-by-parcel basis and benefits from the High Environmental Value 3 certification.

The vintage

The mild winter favored an early budburst, followed by a rainy spring and a particularly hot and dry summer. The optimal conditions during the month of September refine the beautiful maturity of the berries which give an elegant and balanced wine.

Vinification and maturation

The grapes are harvested by hand in crates and sorted in the vineyard and in the cellar. The vinification is carried out in concrete, wood and stainless steel vats, filled by gravity and without pumping.

The alcoholic fermentation is carried out under natural yeasts. The vinification without sulfites is accompanied by punching down.

Aged in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

Blending

This Château Marquis de Terme 2020 is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (60%), merlot (35%) and petit verdot (5%).
