Aanplanting Tamme Kastanje op hoge stam in de tuin

De Tamme Kastanje boom is geschikt voor een warme plaats in uw tuin. Zoals bijvoorbeeld beschutte (dak)tuinen op het zuiden en dicht bij bebouwing. Deze boom wenst een matig voedselrijke, droge tot vochthoudende, zandige bodem met een zure tot neutrale zuurgraad (pH = 4.5 - 7). Staat graag in een plekje in de zon of lichte schaduw en verdraagt zomerse hitte redelijk, mits de standplaats voldoende vochthoudend is. Deze Tamme kastanje Castanea sativa is, vanwege oppervlakkige worteling of grote vocht-/voedingsopname, lastig met vaste planten te combineren.

Bijzonderheden

De noten van deze grote boom kunnen gepoft, geroosterd, gekookt of gestoomd worden. De schil is bitter, de rest van deze noot is zoet.
