Deze wijn komt volledig uit de Awatere Valley, een koelere subregio die bekendstaat om zijn strakkere stijl en kruidige spanning. Herkomst: Awatere Valley, Marlborough

De Awatere Valley ligt zuidelijker en dichter bij de oceaan dan de bekendere Wairau Valley. Hierdoor liggen de temperaturen lager en rijpen de druiven langzamer, wat direct invloed heeft op de stijl van de wijn.

  • Koelere ligging: zorgt voor meer spanning en verfijning.
  • Grind- en kleibodems: geven zowel frisheid als structuur.
  • Langzamere rijping: zorgt voor intensere aroma’s en betere balans.

Deze omstandigheden geven de wijn een uitgesproken karakter dat je niet in elke Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc terugvindt.

Druif en vinificatie

Sauvignon Blanc – Awatere Valley
Sauvignon Blanc staat bekend om zijn aromatische kracht, maar krijgt hier extra diepgang door de herkomst en vinificatie.

De druiven worden per perceel geoogst en direct verwerkt om frisheid te behouden. De fermentatie vindt plaats op lage temperatuur in roestvrij staal. Na de vergisting blijft de wijn nog op de lie liggen, waarbij regelmatige bâtonnage wordt toegepast om extra rondheid en structuur op te bouwen.

Karakter en stijl

In het glas laat deze wijn direct zien waar hij voor staat. Heldere citrus, passievrucht en kruisbes springen eruit, gevolgd door frisse groene tonen zoals peultjes en verse kruiden. In de mond is hij opvallend voller dan je verwacht, met een mooie spanning die alles in balans houdt. De afdronk is strak, fris en blijft lang hangen.
