Dit is de Fazantenbes Leycesteria formosa struik, familie van de Caprifoliaceae, ook wel Grootmoeders oorbel genoemd. Bloemen, bessen en blad Fazantenbes Leycesteria formosa

De hangende bloemen zijn wit+paars van kleur. De bloemen zijn geurig. Na de bloei in de herfst verschijnen de paarsblauwe bessen. De eetbare bessen smaken naar een mix van rozijnen, chocolade en karamel. Vogels, duidelijk vooral Fazanten, zijn dol op de bessen. Ook geschikt voor taarten en toetjes.

De eindzomer bloeitijd duurt van ca. augustus tot en met september. De bladeren zijn groen van kleur. Jong blad heeft een purperrode gloed.

Combineren met deze soorten

Goed te combineren met andere bessenstruiken of met Donkere Geraniums en Purperklokje soorten. Ook kennis gemaakt met Leliegras 'Liriope' of Lampenpoetsersgras 'Pennisetum' prima match.
