Aangemoedigd door zijn rammelende maag en gesteund door zijn dierlijke vrienden, gaat de boze aap terughalen wat van hem is. Ondertussen bevrijdt hij ook nog even de koninkrijken die hij passeert. Het wordt niet gemakkelijk om al dat gele fruit te vinden. De bananen liggen echt op de gekste plekken in de gevarieerde platformlevels, en niet zelden zijn er speciale, bewegingsgestuurde acties nodig om ze te kunnen bereiken.

Achterwaartse salto's en Wall Jumps helpen Donkey elk platformpje te bereiken, terwijl de daverende Ground Pound zowel zijn vijanden als bepaalde delen van het landschap kan vernietigen - zodat misschien weer wat nieuwe bananen tevoorschijn springen. Het krachtigste wapen dat DK kan gebruiken is de supersterke Sound Wave, een aanval die vijanden kan treffen, projectielen kan terugkaatsen en een magnetische aantrekkingskracht heeft op de bananen in zijn buurt.

This is one of those simple things that just works exactly how you want it to. First off, it looks really nice on the counter.
