De Ribes rubrum ‘Jonkheer van Tets’ bloeit in maart en april met onopvallende groen-witte bloemen. De fruitplant is gemakkelijk in onderhoud en de 'Jonkheer van Tets' is één van de eerste soorten waarvan je de heerlijke aalbessen kunt oogsten. Van de aalbes kan sap of jam gemaakt worden, maar ook vers van de struik zijn de aalbessen lekker. Het is ook leuk om deze struik te combineren met een witte aalbes in jouw tuin voor een leuke kleuren mix. De 'Jonkheer van Tets' is zelfbestuivend en heeft dus geen andere aalbessenplant nodig om vruchten te krijgen. De Ribes is goed winterhard en kan temperaturen tot -20 °C goed verdragen.

Verzorgen
Je kunt een Ribes het beste net na de winter of in het vroege voorjaar in de juiste vorm snoeien. Voor een optimale bloei kun je de Aalbes het beste plaatsen in de zon. Ook in de halfschaduw doet hij het prima, maar hij geeft mogelijk wat minder besjes. Hij groeit het beste op humusrijke grond.

Hoe ziet mijn fruitplant er precies uit?
De geleverde Ribes rubrum 'Jonkheer van Tets' kan, afhankelijk van het bestelmoment, afwijken van de getoonde afbeeldingen. Omdat een Ribes een natuurproduct is met verschillende groei- en bloeistadia, is het niet mogelijk altijd exact de juiste stadia in afbeeldingen weer te geven.
