Het helpt tandplak voorzichtig los te maken en verkleuringen te verwijderen. Kurkuma, ook bekend als kurkuma, wordt in de Ayurvedische geneeskunde gebruikt om ontstekingen te behandelen. Het versterkt tanden en tandvlees en er wordt gezegd dat het zwelling en tandvleesirritatie verlicht. Gecombineerd met kokosolie wordt kurkuma beschouwd als een schoonheidsgeheim voor het bleken van tanden. Naast de huidverzorgende eigenschappen staat kokosolie ook bekend om zijn bacteriostatische werking. Het vermindert de groei van bacteriën in de mondholte en optimaliseert zo de mondflora.
