Jeff Gordon is je mentor in de carrieremodus. In NASCAR 09 is het de bedoeling een reputatie vanaf het nulpunt op te bouwen. Dat betekent dat je begint in de Sprint Series of Nationwide Series, om je vanuit daar omhoog te werken door goede prestaties te boeken in de races.
Een goede reputatie bouw je op door veel te winnen, maar ook door netjes te rijden. Je moet geen botsingen veroorzaken om je reputatie te laten verbeteren. Een betere reputatie zorgt voor meer sponsorcontracten en ook meer geld. Bovendien merk je ook een verschil op het parkoers. In de echte NASCAR gaan de minder goede racers aan de kant voor de grote namen en dit zullen ze in NASCAR 09 ook doen voor jou als je reputatie hoog genoeg is.
Naarmate je meer geld verdient, kun je je auto steeds verder naar eigen wens aanpassen. Zo is het mogelijk je auto een uniek uiterlijk te geven. Met je unieke wagen kun je het vervolgens ook online opnemen tegen twaalf andere racers.

Will probably be destroyed soon, but SUPER CUTE!

Super cute! It will probably eventually be ripped to shreds by my pups soon because it is not as sturdy as other toys out there. It is also pretty small so not the best for large dogs destructive dogs. My lab tries to eat it and rip it but my small chihuahua plays with it and fetches it (she also looks adorable holding it her mouth!!)
