Single-vineyard Champagne uit de eigen wijngaard Meurtet, pal achter de kelders in Aÿ. Deze Hommage is 100% Pinot Noir en focust op zuiverheid, finesse en lengte, met een koel terroir dat voor een mooie, levendige zuurgraad zorgt. Wat betekent single-plot bij Champagne? Dat is een cuvée uit één specifiek perceel, hier Meurtet, zodat je het karakter van die plek glashelder proeft.

Wijngaarden en regio

Frankrijk, Champagne, Aÿ. Meurtet ligt op een zuidoosthelling direct achter het huis en is in twee percelen verdeeld. De Pinot Noir-stokken zijn vanaf 1990 aangeplant. Het koelere microklimaat geeft spanning en verfrist het rijpe fruit, met een jeugdige melange van rood en wit fruit in het glas.

Vinificatie en rijping

Gemaakt als monocépage Pinot Noir met de klassieke méthode traditionnelle. De stijl is toegespitst op precisie en textuur, zodat zuiverheid, minerale spanning en lengte behouden blijven. Het resultaat is een Champagne die nu al charmeert en tevens prachtig kan rijpen. Serveer 8–10 °C.

100% Pinot Noir van het Meurtet-perceel, geselecteerd op puurheid en finesse.

Proefnotities en serveertips

Kristalhelder strogeel. Frisse neus met rood fruit, wit fruit en een kalkige, minerale ondertoon. In de mond slank en precies met energieke zuren, fijne mousse en een zeer lange, elegante afdronk. Perfect als feestelijk aperitief, ook schitterend bij verfijnde gerechten met schaal- en schelpdieren of licht bereide vis.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
