De Dag van de Doden is een feest- en herdenkingsdag die elk jaar op 1 en 2 november gevierd wordt. De Dag van de Doden 'Dia de Los Muertos' is ontstaan vanuit de tradities van de Meso-Amerikaanse indianenvolkeren. Het is voor onder anderen de Azteken en de Maya's altijd al een ritueel geweest om de doden te vereren. Dit werd aanvankelijk gevierd in augustusada, maar nadat de Spanjaarden hun intrede maakten, werd de Dag van de Doden verplaatst naar de katholieke feestdagen Allerheiligen en Allerzielen en zowel door de katholieken als door de inheemse bevolking gevierd. In Mexico geloven ze dat de doden elk jaar weer op hetzelfde tijdstip bij hen langskomen en voelen zich dan herenigd met hun overleden dierbaren. Men doet er dan ook alles aan om er elk jaar weer een groot en liefdevol feest van te maken. De Mexicanen herdenken overleden familieleden en vrienden met eten en met spullen die de overledenen het liefst om zich heen hadden toen ze nog leefden.

Decent firm pillow

I've been using the shredded foam pillow since January. At first it was too packed/firm, so I had to remove some of the stuffing from mine. When fully full, it is a chore to get it in/out of our standard pillow cases. Over time, the pillow has developed a divot from where my head rests the most, so I'll need to fully remove/fluff/reinsert the foam to get it back into shape. Overall, I find the comfort of this pillow just okay. It absorbs your head heat even in the winter, so if you prefer a cool pillow, I don't recommend it. It does seem to be a good quality pillow otherwise. I expect I'll be able to use this one for a few years without it falling apart. It doesn't smell bad either. My husband really likes the pillow, but I've also seen him sleep comfortably on very old pillows that have turned into pancakes... so do with that information what you will.
