In 1974 komt hij er alleen voor te staan als zijn vader, die de wijn in bulk verkocht, overlijdt. De jonge Heiner gaat op andere wijngoederen werken en loopt stages om straks zelf aan de slag te kunnen. Uit ideologische overwegingen opteert hij voor biologische wijnbouw en brengt dat vanaf 1987 op het 17 ha tellende wijngoed, dat maar 25 km van de Franse grens ligt, ook in de praktijk. Hier

Beschrijving: Fris en sappig, fijne zuren. Riesling ‘stijl’.

Lekker bij: Aperitief, frisse salades.

Leuk weetje: Het idyllische dorpje Gleisweiler is het warmste plekje van heel Duitsland, er groeien palmen, bananenplanten, cipressen. De bodem is gevarieerd, er zijn percelen met zware kalk/klei.
