Mohicans is the first game of the Small Wars series. Covering the French and Indian War of the mid-18th century, it is based on a popular 1983 Canadian boardgame called Mohawk, published by Aulic Council Publishing Co. in 1983. Mohicans starts in 1754 and continues to 1760, which historically was the year after the conquest of Quebec by British forces (a founding event in the creation of modern Canada).

In Mohicans, the powerful regular forces of Britain fight for control of northeastern North America against the mixed regular and irregular forces of the French and their Indigenous allies. The forces of both sides are bolstered by local militia units and other irregular forces, such as the famous French Courriers de Bois and the British Rangers, and the arrival each year of more regular reinforcements from Europe.

While the British have the edge in firepower, the French have better mobility and their Indigenous allies can make effective use of terrain, particularly the massive forests that covered eastern North America at the time. The British are also more vulnerable to having their supply lines cut off.

Both sides seek to curry favor with the powerful but neutral Iroquois Confederacy, as an alliance with them is an enormous strategic advantage. With each major victory on the battlefield, one of the six tribes of the Iroquois will offer its support to the winning side. Get the support of all six tribes, and the Iroquois will join the fight.

The fate of North America lies in the hands of Native warriors!

The Seven Years War raged in Europe. Rival navies blocked regular reinforcements and supplies to the French and English American colonies. In those years for the last time, the Indian tribes could decide the fate of this land, as they excelled in the petty war that was prevalent in North America.

As one of the two rival colonial powers, you must wage desperate war on a thousand miles front. In a savage wilderness full of dangers, the small war tactics of your opponent may carry the day over your experienced European regulars that are unfit to this hostile environment. Beware not to falter, as the mighty Iroquois Confederacy will go over to the enemy, and your fate will be sealed.

To win the game, the British must hold three of the French cities and towns of Louisbourg, Frontenac, Duquesne, Montreal and Quebec (and at least one must be Montreal or Quebec). If they don’t do this by 1760, the French win by default.

The French can also win by holding the British cities of Albany and either New York, Boston or Philadelphia. This will be a tall order for the French but they can take comfort in the fact that the British, like NATO 250 years later have the watches, but the French have the time…

Win the small wars and ensure your dominance with Small Wars: Mohicans.

Sooooo good!
Format: Kindle
I love how this book is set between the first two original movies. Vader is just amazing and Doctor Aphra is one of those characters I have fell in love with. I honestly felt like I was reading a scene from a movie. Such an amazing book.

Good, but violent - parent discretion advised
Format: Paperback
I got this because of great reviews and because I am a huge Star Wars fan. First thing, this is not for younger readers as it is extremely violent. But overall I found it highly enjoyable. The artwork is fantastic. Vader is a total bad###. The only part I didn't like, and the reason I'm taking off a star, is there was one character who (trying not to reveal any spoilers here) is essentially a mash-up of two other characters from the Star Wars saga...like somebody's kid popped the head off of one action figure and stuck it on another and the author saw that and said, hey, that would be the perfect plot twist for this story. Nevertheless, it was a fun read and I recommend it to fans of Star Wars and Darth Vader in particular.
