This delightful knit was introduced for the Rowan Knit Along for 2023 and has remained a Christmas favorite since. This stunning heirloom afghan features six holiday inspired Fair Isle squares in several color options. The blanket is made by creating each square using Intarsia and/or Fair Isle techniques to reduce long floats on the back side. The squares are then seamed together an the edging is applied last.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Felted Tweed DK by Rowan (50% Merino Wool / 25% Rayon / 25% Alpaca; 50g/191yds): 5 Skeins Main Color (MC), & 2 Skeins Color D, & 1 Skein Colors B, C, E & F. Shown in Clay (MC) with Ginger, Seafarer, Avocado, Pine Cinnamon & Rage. 2 tone afghans require 5 Skeins MC & 4 Skeins Color B. Shown in Aluminum & Tawny. Or Scree & Carbon.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Individual Squares- 6" each & Blanket - 31" x 43"
YARDAGE: 1,719-2,101 total yards
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate-colorwork, picking up stitches, seaming. Each block is a combination of Fair-Isle and Intarsia colorwork to reduce long floats on the back of the project.
NEEDLES: Size US 5 / 3.75mm straight or circular needle & US 3 / 3.25mm 40" circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Stitch Markers, Stitch holders or waste yarn, Tapestry Needle
GAUGE: 26 sts x 27 rows = 4" in patterned stockinette stitch (blocked) on larger needle.
