Madrone Block Md92 2.1" x 2.1" x 13.5" 1.4 lbs. This is a beautiful spindle of Pacific Madrone (Arbutus). It has light peach color with darker peach undertones. Madrona tends to have a lot of color variation throughout, and we think you will be very pleased with this piece. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried blank, meaning that it retains moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It was measured at 15% moisture content in December 2023. Madrona has a lot of internal stress within the grain, thanks to it's twisted and growth habit. It is common for fine cracks to open as these blanks dry, despite being sealed. If you do have a visible crack, fill it with CA glue or epoxy resin prior to turning. |
