"The Great Sea Serpent according to Hans Egede" - an antique engraved print published by William Jardine in "The Naturalist's Library", in 1833-1843.

Hans Egede, the national saint of Greenland, gives an 18th-century description of a sea serpent. On July 6, 1734 his ship sailed past the coast of Greenland when suddenly those on board "saw a most terrible creature, resembling nothing they saw before. The monster lifted its head so high that it seemed to be higher than the crow's nest on the mainmast. The head was small and the body short and wrinkled. The unknown creature was using giant fins which propelled it through the water. Later the sailors saw its tail as well. The monster was longer than our whole ship", wrote Egede.

Sir William Jardine, 7th Baronet of Applegarth (1800 – 1874) was a Scottish naturalist. Jardine made natural history available to all levels of Victorian society by editing the hugely popular forty volumes of The Naturalist's Library (1833–1843) issued and published by his brother in law, the Edinburgh printer and engraver, William Home Lizars.

I picked these up at a reduced price. Speedy delivery. I work in retail and I'm on my feet all day. I have wide feet so I purchased a size larger. They are very comfortable. These were a perfect addition to my wardrobe.

Not very good quality. They are comfortable but they make this weird clicking sound when I walk. Wouldn’t buy them again.
