Description:

Autophagy, a term derived from the Greek meaning “eating of self,” is a process involved in the degradation of cellular debris. Specifically, autophagy utilizes double-membrane vesicles, known as autophagosomes, to facilitate the degradation of intracellular contents, via lysosomes or proteolytic action.

NOTE: All of the above statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Moreover, autophagy serves as a critical process for maintaining overall homeostasis: this is achieved by removing misfolded proteins, damaged organelles, and intracellular pathogens or viruses. As a result, autophagy has been reported to be implicated with numerous health concerns.

Autophagy is further imperative for balancing energy sources within periods of development, and in re- sponse to nutrient deprivation; during times of starvation or caloric restriction, autophagy occurs.

Oxidative stress and cellular damage has also been reported to promote autophagy. Several genes, and the respective proteins, are involved in the regulation of autophagy; such as, the ATG and ULK genes.

During nutrient-plentiful conditions, mTOR is stimulated and inhibits autophagy: mTOR, mammalian target of rapamycin, phosphorylates the ATG13 protein, and has been reported to interact with ULK proteins, thus mediating autophagy. The balance between mTOR and autophagy has recently received attention as an essential component to maintaining homeostasis.

Similarly, the enzyme AMP-activated protein kinase, known as AMPK, has been thoroughly researched, and has been reported to be involved with autophagy; AMPK is further involved with numerous physiological events, including cellular growth and proliferation, mitochondrial function and biogenesis, and insulin resistance. Thus, AMPK has been repeatedly reported to be involved with diabetes.

Activation of AMPK increases autophagy: the phosphorylation of ULK1 appears to be one mechanism related to AMPK-in- duced autophagy. Research has also repeatedly suggested sirtuin, 50-52 and FOXO 53-55 gene expression is also involved with regulating autophagy.

Taken together, it is important to recognize autophagy serves as an energy source, and as a method of maintaining and clearing the cell. Mutations and polymorphisms of autophagy-related genes have been extensively reported to potentially effect autophagy, and have been correlated with an array of health conditions. Autophagy Assist provides cutting-edge, dietary supplementation designed to support the body’s natural ability to perform autophagy.

Autophagy Assist, as its name implies, supports the process of autophagy, the removal of misfolded proteins, damaged cell components, and intracellular pathogens and debris. This critical biological process is also important in balancing energy, oxidative stress, and overall homeostasis. This cutting-edge formulation provides nutrients that support the process of autophagy in the body.

One of the best kids products

Really nice baby and kid shampoo. Never had complaints about getting in eyes. Nice smell, clean. It's not cheap but probably one of the best out there.

Finally a great product
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Arrived well packaged and protected. Great scent, very gentle with my curly hair. Produces a nice lather and leaves hair feeling fresh and clean—not stripped. I also scanned it with Yuka and was really pleased with the good rating for ingredients, which was a big plus for me. Will buy again and try other products from the brand

No Babies, Just An Adult With Eczema
Size: 8 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
No babies here, I bought this for myself because I was recently diagnosed with Eczema and have been searching for something gentle and non-irritating but also natural and a shampoo/body wash combo for quickie showers. I was leaning toward something entirely unscented and marketed toward adult skin conditions, but I happened upon this, did some reading on their website and it actually looked pretty good, so I ordered. I was very curious how it would smell since some reviews say "it stinks" or it smells like men's cologne, etc. yet others say they loved the smell. It really shows how different preferences are, because to ME, I think perfumey mainstream shampoos "stink". I really like the scent of this but to try and help others I'll describe it as best as I can: It's an "earthy" first of all. Someone mentioned patchouli and while it's not nearly as strong as that, it is along the same lines as far as smelling sort of "woody". In the hair it smells a little like Sandalwood for those who know that smell. I have a good nose (and use a lot of essential oils) so right off the bat I picked up both bergamot and cedarwood and sure enough, checked the label and there they are. I could absolutely understand some people thinking of it as somewhat masculine, but it definitely doesn't smell like cologne in my opinion. I'm a little bit of a hippie/earthy type so it's right up my alley but if you prefer flowery, more mainstream scents from a drugstore shampoo you may not care for it. Seems like an unusual scent for a baby product I'll admit, but I like the scent nonetheless and would use it my baby if I had one. The scent remains after my hair is dry but only very lightly. If I lift my long hair to my nose and breathe in it's there but I don't think it's strong enough for anyone else to smell unless they're hugging me or something. I'm sensitive to most scents in bath/body products and this isn't at all overwhelming for me. It worked great, a little thin for my taste but I think all baby shampoos are that way, I can't remember. It made my hair feel soft even while still wet in the shower, and it felt nice and soft after it dried. It doesn't lather a whole lot, but I don't care about lather as long as it works. People tend to be fooled into thinking lather somehow equals effectiveness and that's not true. I've only used it once, but so far it has not aggravated my eczema which was my main reason for buying it, so that's good. My only complaint, and for me it's enough to stop me from buying it again, is the price! Now this is my own fault I realize, but I bought this not fully paying attention to the fact that it's 8 ounces. I saw the size, but it didn't register in my head how small that is. Now, I know nothing about bathing babies and how long a small bottle would last so maybe it's a fine size for that, but this little bottle won't last long at all using it as both shampoo and body wash for an adult, and there's no way I'll pay that much again now that I realize how small it actually is for the price. I saw a 16 ounces size, but it's still too pricey for my budget, I'll just opt for a natural sulfate-free shampoo for grownups when this bottle is done. Too bad too, because I do love the scent.
