The most famous of them, the J-45, traditionally constructed with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides, has seen countless reiterations of itself over the past 80 years. Commonly referred to as “The Workhorse,” it has the ability to cover a vast range of musical genres and playing styles. We are fortunate enough to have scored one of these special reiterations. This Gibson Custom Limited Edition J-45 in a Honeyburst finish features perfectly matched, beautifully decorative Koa back and sides. And rather than an Adirondack or Sitka spruce top found on the majority of J-45's, we have Englemann spruce on this specimen. The combination of these two tone woods make for a unique result, while still keeping the familiarity of the J-45's sound intact. The Englemann naturally has a more “worn-in” tone than other spruces, and paired with the brighter sounding Koa, you end up with finely tuned, warming sonic experience. If its performance weren’t enough to blow you away, we should mention it’s a looker, too. You can spot a hint of bear claw figure on the top, approaching the stunning rosette. The slotted diamond inlays compliment the silky rosewood fingerboard, and are brought out by the abalone script headstock logo above them. I love at how nice this boys suit turned out. The slim fit gives it a stylish, elegant look, and it makes my nephew look so sharp and grown up. Fit true to size.
The material feels good quality, not thin or cheap, and it’s definitely nicer than I expected for the price. I really like that it comes as a full set, which made things so much easier instead of having to buy down extra pieces. Love the tie and the vest, so cute.
He wore it for a special event and got so many compliments, people couldn’t believe how handsome he looked. It stayed looking neat all day, and he was able to move around comfortably. I could easily see him wearing this again for weddings, church, holidays, or even school pictures.
