Its body is constructed from solid mahogany, with deep scarfing at the neck joint and is finished in a breathable gloss nitrocellulose that encourages graceful aging over time, without its resonance being suffocated.
Like the body, the 30.5" short-scale neck is carved from mahogany and sports a generic-sounding-but-super-comfy "Rounded" profile. It's then topped with a rosewood fingerboard adorned with acrylic trapezoid inlays with 20 Medium Jumbo frets. Grover Shamrock tuning machines grace the headstock, allowing precise tuning and a classic aesthetic. With a 3-point adjustable bridge, the SG Bass boasts both functionality and fine-tuning capabilities while setting up string action and intonation.
This Gibson SG Standard Bass is equipped with a pair of calibrated SG Bass pickups at the neck and bridge positions. The Lead SG Bass pickup offers up plenty of grit, while the Rhythm SG Bass pickup keeps it warm and smooth. Paired with the individual volume and master tone controls, you can conjure up myriad tones from beefy to driving.
The SG Bass also sports a 5-ply black pickguard, chrome hardware, and black tophat knobs with silver insert control knobs.
