The Rivolver range of HSS woodturning tools are truly in a class of their own. These beautiful tools are manufactured with Black European Beech hardwood handles coupled with M42HSS chisel blades which are also Cryogenically treated to dramatically improve their edge holding capabilities. M42 is a premium cobalt high speed steel with a chemical composition designed for high hardness and superior hot hardness. M42 exhibits excellent wear resistance by virtue of high heat-treated hardness (68 to 70 HRC), and the high cobalt content imparts the hot hardness. As such, the cutting edges on tools made from M42 super high speed steel stay sharp and hard in heavy-duty and high-production cutting applications. By comparison M2 HSS steel, also a good quality steel, has a heat- treated hardness of 65 HRC.

By incorporating M42 Super HSS, and then cryogenically treating the steel by lowering the temperatures on the steel to again improve toughness, the Rivolver M42HSS Cryo tools will allow a very sharp cutting edge and also hold that sharpness much longer than any other standard HSS steel chisel. The woodturner looking for above normal excellent performance from their turning tools need look no further than Rivolver M42HSS Cryo chisels.

The Rivolver TT-828 Curved Skew Chisels are available in 3/4" and 1" widths. They come with a 320mm (12.6") Black European Beech hardwood handle and a 170mm (6.7") length chisel for a very comfortable overall length of 490mm (19.25").These tools feature a radiused rolled edge skew making them one of the most versatile tools in the turner's collection. They are used for planing cuts, convex or concave forming, end grain work and so on. They combine the merits of a round end for forming concave shapes, a flat section for stability and rounded edges for a smooth traverse along the tool rest.

Let's just address the elephant in the room. My family says I am cheap, but I call it thrifty. Either way, I bought a couple of cork screws earlier that left like they would break at any moment when pushing down the arms, and after a few bottles, one arm did bend. So this time, i paid attention to the reviews and chose these cork screws as the review said they are solid quality. The review was correct. This design is pretty fool proof and easy for anyone to use. You do not need super human strength to pull the cork. Just remove the foil, screw the sharp coil into the cork until the arms have reached the top of their range, the place the bottle on a hard surface and push both arms down. Easy peasy. The bad openers I mentioned earlier did not have anything on the opener arms and the metal was thin. It did not provide a good feel. These cork screws have thicker arms and have a rubber grip on them which provides a much more comfortable operation. I would definitely recommend these cork screws for quality and value.
