Introducing some pretty foundational innovations, the Taylor Next Generation 614ce starts out fairly simply with a Grand Auditorium body brought together from Big Leaf maple back and sides and a torrefied Sitka spruce top. This bright, cheery combo of tonewoods makes for a sonic palette right off the bat sure to pop onstage or in the studio. Plenty of nuance comes baked in to this combo – literally and figuratively – with the spruce's torrefied quality, wherein it is heat treated to impart some simulated age and give it a lived-in tone usually reserved for much older guitars.

This model's voice owes to not only its heat treated top for its complex voice, but to Taylor's scalloped V-Class bracing pattern that bolsters projection and harmonic content. Building upon the brand's proprietary V-Class bracing system, its brace-scalloping process is a welcomed addition to this Next Gen entry.

The Next Generation 614ce brings on a neo-tropical mahogany neck to kick off its playing experience. Another addition in the Taylor Next Generation series is Taylor's Action Control Neck design that offers more opportunities for do-it-yourself neck and action adjustments.
