The 2021 edition of our Members Red truly captures Bella Terra’s dedication to red grape varietals. While most of our wine club members know our strong connection to Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, you might miss our relatively low production of Pinot Noir and Malbec. Malbec has been a great addition to our Meritage blend for a few vintages now and our winemaker Fred DiProfio loves it for the depth it gives to these expressive wines.

In 2021, Fred has created a rich, but approachable cuvee of 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, 12.5% Malbec and 12.5% Pinot Noir.

This exclusive wine presents a gorgeous ruby red in the glass and offers generous fruit on the nose. Aromas of blackberries, cassis, ripe plums, cherry, herbs, violets, and a whisper of earthiness hint at the grapes inside the bottle. Lively and fresh on the front-palate, as the wine’s flavours answer the nose perfectly. The wine starts with generous red fruits, showcasing a brightness that will be a key characteristic of 2021 Niagara reds. A bit more depth comes across with the mid-palate as the blackberry and cassis begin to make an appearance, along with some spicy notes. The tannins are smooth and easygoing, and the fresh acidity is perfectly in balance, making this wine incredibly food friendly.

Food Pairing: Take this wine beyond being a perfect sipping wine after work and pair it with anything that has a nice fresh tomato sauce, ranging from Eggplant Parmesan to Margherita pizza.
