This model, a highly limited release from the brand, carries with it generations of amplified excellence in its refined sounds, versatile playability, and knockout aesthetic design.
In the twilight of the 1960s, San Francisco Bay Area repairman Randall Smith, enamored with the Tweed circuits developed by Leo Fender, sought to develop his own entry to the boutique guitar amplification market. Original amps introduced by Smith effortlessly and organically glided from clean to crisp to clip and back again with all the finesse they've since come to be known for.
Decades after their introduction, Mesa Boogie returns to where they started with the California Tweed series. Today's California Tweed 6V6 4:40 embodies a single-channel simplicity so inspirational at every turn. Onboard, the channel includes Normal and Low inputs, Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, Presence, Reverb and Master volume controls alongside an all-tube long-tank spring reverb with an external reverb switching jack and a fully buffered tube-driven series FX loop to welcome all comers of effects while retaining the sun-drenched tube saturation for which these Mesa Tweeds are famous. The model's patented Multi-Watt Power Amp provides five power levels for use in varying performance settings with two operating classes and three wiring options for ultimate versatility.
This limited edition California Tweed 4:40 features a detailed, textured Wine Buggy Western vinyl wrap with a dark grey grille. Brown corners and a handle with cream piping and a cream Boogie logo top off the limited aesthetic presentation. This limited edition model travels with an included fitted slipcover.
