Released in 1970, Funkadelic’s self-titled debut was a radical collision of psychedelic rock, gospel, blues, and soul — a chaotic, genre-defying statement that redefined the possibilities of Black music. Where Motown aimed for polish and crossover appeal, Funkadelic dove headfirst into distortion, improvisation, and spiritual ambiguity, offering a sound as gritty and unpredictable as the era itself. Backed by a ferocious young band overseen by George Clinton, the album rejected convention in favor of raw groove and existential noise. The lineup included Tiki Fulwood on drums, Billy "Bass" Nelson on bass, Eddie Hazel and Tawl Ross on guitar, and organist Mickey Atkins. 

The heavy drums and guitar riffs from "Good Old Music" have been sampled by The Jungle Brothers, The D.O.C., Ice Cube, Above The Law, 2Pac, Common, and Biz Markie to name a few.
