Discover a compelling examination of the European crisis with this brand new book, perfect for scholars and enthusiasts alike. In 'Europe Entrapped' by Claus Offe, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2016, delve into the complexities that plague the European Union today. This insightful 104-page guide articulates the core political contradictions of the EU, revealing how necessary measures to alleviate the financial turmoil are often politically unpopular and, therefore, practically impossible to implement democratically.

Join Offe as he explores the increasing disunity in Europe, marked by sharp divides between the financially stable core nations and struggling peripheral countries. From the impacts of the common currency to the tensions between integration advocates and populists, this book sheds light on the profound challenges facing the continent. As millions suffer from economic strife, Offe critically addresses the barriers preventing a cohesive response to the crisis that endangers the EU's very existence.

Whether you're researching European politics, studying international relations, or seeking to understand the socio-economic issues affecting Europe, this book serves as an essential resource. Don't miss out on this crucial analysis of the contemporary European landscape.

Description:

Today Europe finds itself in a crisis that casts a dark shadow
over an entire generation. The seriousness of the crisis stems from
one core political contradiction at the heart of the European
project: namely, that what urgently needs to be done is also
extremely unpopular and therefore virtually impossible to do
democratically. What must be done - and almost everyone agrees in
principle on the measures that would be needed to deal with the
financial crisis - cannot be sold to the voting public of the core
member states, which so far have been less affected by the crisis
than those on the periphery, nor can the conditions that core
members try to impose be easily sold to voters in the deficit
countries.

The European Union is therefore becoming increasingly disunited,
with deepening divides between the German-dominated
?core? and the southern ?periphery?,
between the winners and the losers of the common currency, between
the advocates of greater integration and the anti-Europeans,
between the technocrats and the populists. Europe finds itself
trapped by the deepening divisions that are opening up across the
Continent, obstructing its ability to deal with a crisis that has
already caused massive social suffering in the countries of the
European periphery and is threatening to derail the very project of
the European Union.

In this short book, Claus Offe brings into sharp focus the
central political problem that lies at the heart of the EU and
shackles its ability to deal with the most serious crisis of its
short history.

An immature take on Peter Parker only suitable for the most immature reader
Format: Kindle
Someday, Marvel Comics won't be controlled by white male Boomers/GenXers who make Peter Pan look well adjusted and who incessantly try to recapture a childhood that never actually existed while believing women have cooties and adult relationships are icky. But until then, we get Amazing Spider-Man by Joe Kelly, whose writing is the living embodiment of the Steve Buscemi "How do you do, my fellow kids" meme. This run is boring, trite and cliched. You could probably get a more insightful and original story by asking ChatGPT to write one for you. The only thing going for the run - so far - is that Kelly at least isn't outright aggressively antagonizing the reader unlike the previous writer. It's just...bland and mediocre.

Great delivery, great price, great book!
Format: Hardcover
Must have for any Batman/DC comics fan. I’m not much of an art snob, but the pictures in this book are stunning. The story is wonderful.

Solid Omnibus
Format: Hardcover
This omnibus collects some of the best stories for batman fans. The hard cover at first glance is bland and seems like an after thought but can easily be overlooked. Its a black cardboard material similar to the omnis that DC keeps dishing out non stop. Keep the dust jacket on after reading and it will look great on your shelf. The binding is similar to the new omnis coming out recently from DC and it stays flat when reading and isnt tight. Its a sewn binding and I havent had any issues. As far as the pages go their not too thin and not too thick. The colors really come out and the shades of black really look well done and you can tell they didnt just reprint. There was some thought that went into this. There are some really cool extras in the back which makes up for the overall price. In all this is a giant collection of some awesome stories and my review is a little all over but you want a reason why its 5 stars.
