Harnessing some true '80s grit and glimmer, the MXR Rockman X100 Analog Tone Processor is a spiritual revival of one of classic rock's most charming gadgets.

In the late 1960s, Tom Scholz began attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, writing and playing music in his free time. About ten years later, he had a master's degree and a platinum-selling record with his band, Boston. His passions for engineering and musicmaking coincided in his founding of his own electronics company, Scholz Research & Development, Inc. This venture brought about many early consumer-grade musical electronics, among them, the Rockman X100. This early headphone amp featured built-in overdrive and modulation effects and proved to be a testament to the arena-minded pop rock that dominated the charts at its time of release.

Today, MXR summons some of that '80s razzle-dazzle in the Rockman X100 Analog Tone Processor. Recontextualized into a stompbox form, the original sounds of the Rockman X100 headphone amp and signal processor are alive and well for the players of today.

The MXR Rockman X100 is an all-in-one overdrive and modulation effect pedal with design alluding to the original model's interface. Throwing back to the early SR&D design, this Rockman features two buttons, two sliders, and one footswitch. From here, the whole experience blooms into a vintage-style pedal ready for action.

At its base, the MXR Rockman X100 features four drive modes. The four modes are laid out simply, accessed by the Mode toggle on the pedal's left side. The modes shake out as such:

  • CLN2: The default setting. This mode starts out simply with a crystal-clear clean tone.
  • CLN1: The next step up. This mode moves into tighter, punchier territory with a mids-focused EQ curve.
  • Edge: The borderline. This mode will introduce your moderate clipping for that added bit of crunch – not too little, not too much.
  • Distortion: The showstopper. On this mode, you get the high-energy overdrive that begs for the limelight. Big chords, screaming solos, you'll know what to do, no doubt.

There's more to the Rockman than four distortion modes, however. You might notice the two sliders that take the place your pedal's knobs are usually in. Let's not panic, rather, let's dig in.

The two sliders of the Rockman control volume and input gain, respectively. Your volume slider will operate as you would expect, push up for more volume, pull back for less. This control interacts with the other slider, the input gain control. Your input gain slider will adjust how your incoming signal will interact with the Rockman's four tone modes. If you raise the input gain slider, you'll get a more compressed and sensitive sound (which is particularly responsive to the Rockman's Edge mode).

There's one more function to the Rockman that gives it that '80s pizzazz: a bucket brigade chorus. The Rockman actually uses the same MN3007 bucket brigade chip found in the original headphone amp, ensuring its authenticity as an '80s relic. Click on the chorus effect and hear the lush sounds of arena rock twist and swirl around your clean or driven signals.

The Rockman X100 runs on standard nine-volt power and can be powered with your usual center-negative tip power supply. It features buffered bypass switching and can be run in stereo through accessing its internal mono/stereo output switch. For those who can't get enough of the classic '80s arena sound, the MXR Rockman X100 is your ticket back to the future.

What's the best way to describe this experience? Well, it's more than a feeling.

  • All-analog recreation of Scholz Research & Development Rockman X100 headphone amplifier
  • Four tone modes with clean, driven and distorted options
  • Volume and input gain sliders
  • Onboard bucket brigade chorus effect
  • 1/4" expression output for external mode control
  • Stereo out routing capability accessible via internal switch
  • Standard nine volt DC center negative power operation

A Timeless and Stylish Pea Coat - Perfect for Winter!
Size: X-Large, Color: Wine Red
The quality of this pea coat is exceptional. The wool blend material feels soft and luxurious, and the craftsmanship is evident in every stitch. The coat is well-constructed and designed to withstand the test of time. I have been wearing it throughout the winter season, and it has kept me warm and cozy even during the coldest days. The classic double-breasted design of the coat is timeless and versatile. It adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit, whether I'm wearing it for a formal event or a casual day out. The notched collar enhances the coat's elegance and provides a polished look. The fit of the coat is excellent. The sizing chart provided by the seller was accurate, and the coat fits me perfectly. The tailored cut gives it a flattering silhouette without feeling restrictive. It allows for comfortable layering, so I can wear sweaters or jackets underneath without any issues. One of the standout features of this pea coat is its attention to detail. The buttons are well-placed and secure, and the lining is smooth and comfortable against the skin. The deep pockets are a great addition and provide ample space for storing essentials like gloves or a phone.

Excellent Product!!!
Size: X-Small, Color: Black
Must buy item. I would buy a coat for every color they offer. The coat has four large pockets, two exterior and two interior pockets. All of which are large.

Really nice for the price!
Size: XX-Large, Color: Brown, Size: XX-Large, Color: Brown
This jacket is a really nice find for the price, my bf is 6’4, 350 and the XXL fit really well. It was a little tight in the bicep but other than that it fit well in the chest and in the waist. It falls just below the belt. It was really nicely made and I ended up wearing it at the end of the night (due to not bringing my own jacket in December in the snow) and it kept me pretty warm and was really nice and cozy! So if you’re looking for a pea coat / trench coat that isn’t $500 then definitely buy this one!

Almost great! But falls a little short
Size: Large, Color: Wine Red
It’s a great looking pea coat, but the stuffing/insulating material appeared to be lacking. Granted price is nice so one can only expect so much. I was willing to overlook this and then I tried it on - the fit was great except for the sleeves. I wear 32-33 sleeves and these must be 35-36. They swallow up my hands. It’s bummer because the maroon/wine color is so nice. I’ll be returning unfortunately

Great quality :-)
Size: X-Large, Color: Black, Size: X-Large, Color: Black
So I purchased a Nother pea coat from a box store that didn’t quite fit right and was not very flattering, so I returned it. I’m 6 foot tall 210 pounds with very wide shoulders and long arms so I decided to get an extra large. It’s slightly loose around the waist section, but I think that’s supposed to be that way considering you may wanna wear layers underneath. I may possibly get it tailored a little bit tired her, but the chest and arms fit great and the length is perfect. Great quality for the price and definitely a nice piece to the collection!
