ConneXions is based in the megacity of Kolkata India. Poverty in the rural areas surrounding Kolkata sees thousands move to the city in the hope of securing work. Most don’t find the prosperous future they were longing for. Instead, they are forced to take up residence in substandard accommodation in poor areas of the city. With limited education, no financial resources and an abundance of people willing to exploit their situation, day to day living is a challenge.
The work we do at ConneXions is focused on empowering women, from 3 local slum communities. Income generation through dignified employment is the cornerstone of our work. Women come to ConneXions and are taught skills (or utilise existing skills) to produce beautiful high-quality products. The income they earn helps them to become increasingly self-sufficient. Their confidence and self-esteem grow as they are empowered to improve the quality of their lives and those that depend on them.
Blooming Grace Boutiques works alongside organizations around the world who focus on creating dignified jobs for vulnerable individuals. This empowers people and communities, providing them with the financial independence necessary to break free from exploitation.
We offer amazing hand-crafted items made by these artisans formerly in vulnerable situations. This approach not only addresses the root causes of trafficking but also fosters long-term economic growth and stability.
