easily form upright clumps. Once the plant matures, it will have 2 foot tall stems with one foot long slender leaves, and arching flower stalks will show off their pink bracts and drooping flowers that have yellow green petals edged with bright blue. Plant in shade in a well drained organic rich soil and water occasionally this plant is surprisingly drought tolerant. It is reliably hardy to 30F to 32F but able to tolerate short duration temperatures much lower.  USDA Hardiness zones 9 to 11, but is commonly grown indoors. This plant readily multiplies and can be easily propagated for sharing with friends, hence the name "friendship plant".
