Overview

The essays in this collection study conflict and continuity across the spectrum of political, jurisdictional, and spiritual traditions from late medieval Umbria and Tuscany to sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Venice, Rome, and Castile. They point to a shared tradition of dispute and resolution in both ecclesiastical/spiritual and state/secular matters, whether of private conscience or public policy. Continuity of ideals, of problems, and of modes of resolution suggests that sharp breaks in legal, political, or religious ideals and behaviour were not as frequent and not as sharp as many historians have argued. These continuities emerge from a common methodological approach grounded in close, careful reading of key texts and their polyvalent terms. Whether those were the terms of civil or canon law, spirituality, or astrology, each author has had to grapple with their multiple possibilities, contexts, custom, and practice that reveal the shifts and continuities in their possible meanings. As Anthony Grafton’s Foreword describes, he and the authors share a debt to the remarkable collaboration between Eric Cochrane (1928-1985) and Julius Kirshner, two leading scholars and teachers at the University of Chicago between 1970 and 1985. Lauro Martines—Cochrane and Kirshner’s colleague and friend in Florentine history—examines the challenges and consequences of this emphasis on “contexts” in his incisive thoughts on historiographical practices in his Epilogue.

This product is really good, I researched it because it is the closest to human skin, and that was what it did help me repair my skin that was injured after an allergy of more than two months. I felt that I had lost the elasticity and shape of my skin, this fat stuck to me and made me feel safe again.

Will repurchase
Style: Deep Moisturizing, Size: 1.76 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
At 56 years old my skin is pretty dry but this was still a little to heavy for a face cream-- but usable in a pinch. What it is PERFECT for is for your hands before you go to sleep at night. You know you're going to touch your face and pillow during the night so heavily fragranced creams aren't good at all. This is thick enough to make your hands and cuticles feel great but gentle enough not to cause problems if transferred onto your face.

Soft and Smooth!
Style: Deep Moisturizing, Size: 1.76 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This product feels fantastic when you put it on. A little goes a very long way so you get a lot for your money. It does work great after just lightly drying your face. There isn’t much of a smell, which I prefer. I have very sensitive skin and this is so soothing to use. I’m also in my late 40’s so the soft, plump and smooth look achieved after using this is so nice. If it makes your skin greasy at all you are using too much.

Great moisturizer

This is a great product! The consistency is thick, but not heavy. No overwhelming fragrance. Applies easily and is absorbed quickly. Would definitely purchase again.

Buy!! Worked well for my eczema
Love love love this product!! It’s AMAZING for my winter skin. The consistency is thick enough to deeply moisturize and keep my skin hydrated all day long. It made my skin super clear, smooth, and healthy-looking. It also really helped clear up my eczema, especially the eczema and dry patches on my face. My dry spots became so much smoother and less irritated after using this consistently. The jar lasted me a good while, which I loved since I use moisturizer constantly. There’s no fragrance, the application is super easy, and the consistency feels sooo nice on the skin. It absorbs really well and leaves my skin feeling soft and glowy. It honestly worked so well that I didn’t even need to use primer before my makeup anymore 😭 that’s how good this product is!! I will always repurchase, especially during the winter 💕
