The 000-17 is a 000-14 Fret-sized acoustic guitar assembled in classic Martin fashion with tone and playability as priorities. These priorities come to light starting out simply with a solid mahogany top, back, and sides. Mahogany, a standby pick for a tonewood, delivers on Martin's classic warmth and woody tones for which they are famous. This body construction is complemented by the 000-17's Golden Era (GE) scalloped Sitka spruce bracing that balances projection, enriches the guitar's tone, and summons an impressive acoustic voice. Previously featured on the Modern Deluxe Series, this bracing pattern is a player-forward feature to inspire.

From here, the 000-17 Standard Series drops in a GE Modified Low Oval neck through traditional compound dovetail joint construction. This neck meets up with an ebony fingerboard and a satin finish that makes for a smooth texture across the palm and a comfortable fretting experience across the fingers. GE Diamond and Square Short fingerboard inlays punctuate the ebony for an impressive visual element while an ebony bridge and a set of nickel open gear tuning machines ground strings at each side of the scale stably for extended playing sessions. Once those sessions are over, this Martin travels safely with an included Martin hardshell case.
