Description:
The Umbrella House is the smallest residential home by Japanese architect and mathematician Kazuo Shinohara (1925-2006). This book tells the story of his unique masterpiece, which was first built in Tokyo in 1961. More than sixty years later, a stroke of good fortune made it possible to save the Umbrella House from demolition and move it to a new location, where it now stands on the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein (Germany). The wooden house's post-and-beam construction references traditional Japanese domestic and temple architecture. Experts from Japan and Europe supervised the dismantling of the house in Tokyo and its reassembly in Weil am Rhein.
The book traces the long journey of the Umbrella House in lavish illustrations including impressions from 1960s Japan, architectural designs and plans, and photographs that document its dismantling and reassembly or show the house in its new location. Texts by Ryue Nishizawa (SANAA), Shin-ichi Okuyama, and David B. Stewart discuss the Umbrella House against the background of Japanese architectural discourse between 1960 and the present.
"The strength of my conviction that A House is a Work of Art was born of the struggle with this small house. I wished to express the force of space contained in the doma [earthen-floor room] of an old Japanese farmhouse, this time by means of the geometric structural design of a karakasa [oiled-paper Japanese umbrella]." Kazuo Shinohara in a text on the Umbrella House published in October 1962 in the Japanese architecture journal Shinkenchiku (vol. 37, no. 10; first published in English in February 1963 in The Japan Architect, v

Super comfy, roomy, great quality!
Size: Medium, Color: Calypso Blue
These are so cute! They fit nicely, actually run a bit big but that’s probably intentional. I’m short, just a little over 5 feet tall and they are the perfect length for me. I got a medium, i normally wear some mediums and some larges. They are lightweight denim and great quality!

Sturdy fabric, well made.
Size: X-Large, Color: Royal Blue
I LOVE these pants!!!
Who buys pants online??? I NEVER do, but I took the chance band I absolutely adore them!! I’m 5”10’ 200lbs and they are so super comfy and look fabulous on me too. (If I do say so myself)
Wore them to the baseball game and got three compliments.
Might order another pair?
Seriously, they are well constructed. Good solid material with just enough stretch. The pockets are actual Pockets.
I seriously love them.

Great fit, good quality, horrible smell
Size: X-Large, Color: Calypso Blue, Size: X-Large, Color: Calypso Blue
Surprisingly decent for the low price. Love the details. Fit is good, but I sized up based on the measurements (I wear a 14 but bout the XL/16-18) and I like the looser fit if them. Would honestly rate 5 stars, but there was a HORRIFIC little fragrance pie thing stuck in the bag... I'm sure, based on how many people I walk past in the world stink of hyper-scented laundry detergent, that this is not a problem for some folks, but many people also have fragrance sensitivities, and this can be not just problematic for some, but dangerous. I had to wash these jeans 4 times before the odor went away enough for me to wear them. So that was disappointing, but otherwise, I'm a fan.

Worthy
Size: Small, Color: Calypso Blue
I have to say, I seldom receive something thru Amazon that's 100% worthy! I wear F P & AE & these look just like the model! I usually wear a M, but knowing how fp sizing is, I got the S. Fits perfect with even a bit of room. Im 5'3", 127lbs, 27 waist. Definitely great with flats, but I'm not sure yet with any other than tennis shoes. The paint splatter on mine are less than picture....no complaint here. They have a bit of stretch, I like real jeans, so I can live with it. They are soft & actually made well. Only downside to this order, Amazon made me purchased over what I wanted to, to get it by promise date, never happen & getting very common with that trick, not appreciated, so beware you may not get them on promise date
