The Epiphone '57 SJ-200 Acoustic-Electric Guitar in Vintage Sunburst offers a new, more affordable take on an iconic instrument knows as "King of the Flat-Tops." A collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop, the SJ-200 was originally introduced in the 1930's and this Epiphone '57 SJ-200 emulates an acoustic guitar that marks the "Golden Era" of Gibson's guitar crafting, known for its mustache-style bridge, graduated crown inlays, and overall vintage-inspired aesthetic appeal.
The Epiphone '57 SJ-200 features a top made of thermally aged, solid Sitka spruce and a solid figured maple back and sides. A six-ply binding separates the top from the sides, and binding can also be found around the perimeter of the body's rear as well as up the neck and headstock. A large part of the iconic aesthetic status of this guitar comes from its pickguard and mustache-style bridge made of laurel, both of which can also be found on this Epiphone iteration of the SJ.
Its neck, fashioned from flame maple, boasts a comfortable C-profile, a walnut center stringer, and is topped with a medium-dark laurel fingerboard featuring twenty frets, a 1.72-inch bone nut, and Mother-of-Pearl Graduated Crown inlays. Atop the neck, this Super Jumbo boasts a sleek black painted headstock, with beautiful gold-plated Epiphone Deluxe tuning buttons.
Stocked with L.R. Baggs onboard electronics, recreating the acoustic nuances of this guitar is easier than ever. This integrated pickup system features a soundhole mounted volume and tone knob, allowing control over tone without sacrificing the sleek appearance of the guitar. Included in purchase of the Epiphone '57 SJ-200 is a hardshell case featuring the "Inspired by Gibson" logo.
