The album marked the first time he was given full rein to select his own sidemen for a date, and when asked in a 1960 radio interview which was his favourite of all the albums he'd recorded up to that point, his instant reply was, 'Blue Train'.

Coltrane wrote four of the record's five tracks and his playing exhibits early elements of the signature style for which he later became known.

Update: sweater looked great when I received. After 1 wash it looks terrible. Looks like it’s been washed too many times, material fuzzy and piled.
