A 6 mm black onyx stone set in a serrated sterling silver bezel attaches to a long brass spear shape detailed with a small star at the top. Onyx is believed to help build inner strength and courage and offer protection from negative energies. Total length is 3.25 inches, post is sterling silver with disc ear clutch.

These earrings were created as a reminder that stars shine their brightest in the darkest of skies, they are glimmers of hope, they can help us navigate to find our way and are a timeless source of wisdom. A small star set on a golden backdrop of brass is paired with black onyx as dark as night. This timeless source of wisdom goes back to the prehistoric people who inhabited this land before us, who had deep reverence for nature and earth, who defined the cultural landscape and relied heavily upon the stars and the sky to guide them through life. They were students of nature, had a strong connection to and were led by the wisdom of the sky. Their devotion to learn the movement of the sun, moon, stars and planets reveals itself in their architecture which aligns with these illuminating light bodies shining down from the skies above. Cast shadows and piercing light were carefully measured and tracked with the activity of the sun and moon and the patterns of the stars and planets were studied and memorized with commitment and purpose. These structures were built and created with intention, in honor of time and in connection to the earth. As an archaeologist, I was grateful to have had the opportunity to study and document the architecture of the Ancestral Puebloan people of the Four Corners area. Not only did the tangible remnants they left behind make a lasting impression on me but their devotion to and honoring of Mother Earth has inspired me and my art in many ways.

Where I live stars are abundant and star gazing is something that makes me feel connected to earth and nature. As the moon has been waning into it’s crescent phase, I have been admiring the galaxy of the recent dark night skies.  Even though the vastness of these billions of shining celestial bodies makes me feel small, I also feel held as I trust that I am being guided by a powerful energy that is far beyond what I will ever truly and fully understand.  As I look to the skies, I find comfort in finding the North Star, the star that guides and gives us direction.  When I think about what my North Star is and what guides me through life, it is a commitment to myself, to showing up for myself, to understanding myself better. Throughout this growth process, I have felt intense emotional gratitude from the inner most parts of my heart. I have recently found a simple focused daily practice that feels really good to me. In the morning, as soon as I open my eyes, I take a few moments to take some deep breaths, connect to my heart and reflect on what I feel deep appreciation and gratitude for. For me, this focused, daily acknowledgment cultivates a higher vibration and throughout the day even in the face of challenges allows me hold onto joy and remember that this state of gratitude is what I desire as a natural state of being. By letting my heart lead with gratitude it connects me to self, to source and to others.

The hidden secret is a hit!
Format: Hardcover
My 6 year old has autism and his hyper fixation is anything space related and comparing sizes of everything in it from molecules to galaxies. So needless to say finding this book hit every one of his interests and he’s hooked. Not only is the book cute and clever, the hidden secret at the end of the book sent him into a fit of giggles while searching for everything with his black light pen. This is the only book he constantly goes back to.

Loved this book!
Format: Hardcover
I have a grandson (5yrs old) who loves "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly" books, and is obsessed with black holes as well. He asked santa for a black hole for Christmas and his mom told me, "good luck with that", so when I found this, it was perfect! He absolutely loved it and it's a cute book to read.

2nd book if you have black light
Format: Hardcover
The book is ok, with the same plot as "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly" but there is a second book that goes back to front if you have a blacklight. Some of the pages were not printed well with the invisible ink but I really liked that second book better, as it explains the terminology like quarks and atoms. It is a fun book but having a black light is a must.
