DESCRIPTION: There’s nothing quite like the character of a well-worn leather bag—and this piece is pure vintage perfection. Crafted in a rich, textured dark brown leather, it carries decades of history in every crease and patina. The embossed monogram adds a personal, heirloom touch, elevating it from utilitarian to unforgettable. Designed with durability and timeless style in mind, this satchel is as practical as it is chic, ready to pair with everything from tailored trousers to a flowing trench. With proper care and regular conditioning, this beauty will continue to age gracefully, developing that coveted patina that makes vintage leather so irresistible. A true collector’s piece for those who appreciate craftsmanship, history, and effortless style.

HISTORY: Leather satchels carry a legacy that spans centuries, evolving from the simple messenger bags of scholars and clergy into the refined briefcases and handbags of modern times. Their enduring appeal lies in durability and practicality—designed to safeguard books, documents, and personal essentials through changing eras of style and function. Over time, these utilitarian pieces became canvases for individuality, with embossed initials emerging as a hallmark of personalization.

The art of monogramming leather goods dates back hundreds of years, first appearing on bespoke luggage and accessories for the elite. By the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as mass production made fine goods more accessible, monograms surged in popularity—serving both as a mark of ownership and a subtle expression of personal style. Travel trunks, handbags, and satchels often bore initials, family crests, or significant dates, transforming everyday items into cherished heirlooms. The “B.A.D.” monogram on this satchel speaks to that tradition, likely symbolizing a gift or treasured possession tied to paternal significance. Beyond its material craftsmanship, this detail imbues the piece with sentiment—a tangible link between utility, artistry, and personal history.

Received Damaged

I absolutely cannot wait to start reading this book! However, I am just so sad that it was damaged upon arrival. It was a bit pricey to live with a damaged "new" book.

One of the most important books of recent decades
Format: Paperback
It’s daunting (many of Robinson’s footnotes are like fascinating blogposts about history, so it’s a lot to get through, let alone think about. But Robinson's deeply-researched account of a Black radicalism independent of European ideas is enlightening. Robin Kelley's introduction to the new edition is worth reading on its own.

Loved by an 8 year old
I bought this for my friend’s son when they were taking an 8 hour train ride to Washington DC. He loved the activities and reading about all of the DC sites! It kept him occupied for the majority of the train ride and he carried it with him when they went site seeing! It was age appropriate and developmentally appropriate as well. Just make sure to pack a pencil and crayons too!

Excellent for Elementary Aged Kids!
We bought a second after seeing how great this travel guide is so both of our elementary age kids could have their own. I will buy this brand of travel guide anytime we go anywhere they offer one. It is informative but also has lots of different activities. I highly recommend this.
