The Boat Shaped Abstract Wood Sculpture at 84cm is a finely carved long boat-form vessel hand-built from solid wood, finished in warm bronze-brown tones with intricate architectural detail along its full length. The hull sweeps gently from a clean prow to a stern crowned by a small pagoda-style pavilion with upturned eaves, while the deck carries delicate lattice railings, ornamental rafters, and small structural posts. The warm bronze finish brings out the deep grain of the hull, while the intricate openwork detailing creates rhythmic shadow lines across the deck. Each boat is hand-built and hand-finished, so the detail rhythm varies between pieces.
An Imperial Sampan in Miniature
Our artisans hand-cut, assemble and finish the hull, deck rails, ornamental rafters and stern pavilion from solid wood, building the boat as one continuous architectural form rather than an assembled model. The piece is sealed and finished in warm bronze-brown lacquer that brings out the deep grain across the hull and the precision of the openwork detail.
